Las Cavernas de Quiocta

I went to Chachapoyas again, and this morning visited las Cavernas de Quiocta. More than any other cave I've visited, this felt like a Tomb Raider video game.

Same rectangular corridors from a video game.

Same mysterious idols and weird geological structures.

20% fewer monster attacks.

For lunch I finally decided to buckle down and try the Peruvian national dish.

Rat.

Allegedly, this was guinea pig, but really, how would I know? If some restaurant operator decided to have a laugh by feeding rich gringos rat for lunch, would it look or taste any different? Hard to say...

For the record, yes, it tasted like chicken. And, no, I wouldn't order it again.

Interesting. I like how it still has the intact head with teeth and ears, and the little legs. Seems a bit scrawny. I've seen frog legs with more meat. (I wouldn't order frog legs again, either.)

Yeah, it was kind of like eating a museum specimen, or a little deep-fried rat-mummy.
