Paracas

This weekend I went to Paracas. This was my last big trip prior to Cusco (where I'll go on a longer trip in a few weeks), and it reminded me of why I decided not to book any more trips to distant locations, before that one - the logistics of this were just a pain. Going to Paracas required a two-hour van ride, a couple-hour flight, an overnight stay at a crummy hostel in Lima, an hour-long cab ride across Lima, and a six hour bus ride down to Paracas (plus a 4 hour ride down to Nazca on Monday). Then back. I left Friday afternoon and returned Tuesday night, and almost two full days of that were killed just in travelling.

Paracas was a cool town, though, with a decent beach, a great hostel, and a cool arts and crafts market just off the beach.

Also, lots of pelicans:

So, the Arts & Crafts market is selling... hammocks?
The pelicans look pretty relaxed.

No, megalodon teeth and shell art for the most part.

sorry it was such a pain to get there, but it seemed like a fun place. Loved the sunset
