Huacamaillo

Yesterday I took a day trip to Tarapoto, walked into a tourism agency, and asked what they had today. Answer: the waterfall at Huacamaillo.

The nice thing about being spontaneous is that it doesn't require any planning. The downside is that you can be totally unprepared. For example: wearing jeans and hiking boots on a hike requiring a dozen river crossings. Fortunately I didn't have to strip down to my underwear for ALL of them.

Oh, look, a swimming hole! That would have been nice to plan for...

Everyone in the car to and from the waterfall was playing something called 'Pokemon Go' on their smart phones.

Today I went on a river cruise out of Tarapoto with one of my housemates.

And visited the chocolate museum (I'm trying to check off the remaining tourist attractions in my last week here).
