Today was May Day. I was clever enough to realize in advance that this would mean reduced bus/train service, and that I should therefore try to avoid going somewhere where I might be stranded. Unfortunately, I was not quite clever enough to realize that this would mean passing the day in a city where every single museum and business was closed. So, I basically spent the day wandering in circles around Rennes.

One of the May Day traditions here, besides closing everything, is selling flowers. This was interesting the first time someone came up to me on the street to offer me a bouquet, but by the thousandth it was getting old.
Another tradition is the May Day protest. My ducky took part.
And look, he made a friend!
I'm not totally sure if the woman in a chicken suit giving out condoms was pro or anti-gay marriage, but she did a mean chicken dance.
